Ans. Generally secret agents are sturdy, having a pistol and wearing black coloured glasses. They have usually parties where beautiful woman slip massages in their hand. But Ausable is not like that. He is a fat fellow living in a gloomy hotel room. There are no cracks of pistols either.
Q2. Who is fowler and what is his authentic thrill of the day?
Ans. Fowler is a writer who meets Ausable, the secret agent, because he wants to write a romantic story. He has his first authentic thrill of the day when he saw a man with a pistol in his hands in Ausable's room.

Ans. Max came in by opening the door with a pass key.

Ans. Ausable says that Max has entered the room through a balcony outside the window.

Ans. Ausable says that he is going to raise devil with the managment of the hotel. He says this in a convincing manner. He tall’s Max that he is the second fellow who has entered his room through that balcony. But Max says that he has entered in the room with the help of a passkey. There is night outside. Max is convinced that there is a balcony. He says that if he knew about it, he could avoid some trouble.
Q2. Looking back at the story, when do you think Ausable thought up his plan for getting rid of Max? Do you think he had worked out his plan in detail right from the beginning? Or did he make up a plan as time went along, taking advantage of events as they happened?
Ans. Ausable had not made the plan from the beginning. He had a presence of mind. He made plans as time went by taking advantage of the events as happened. He thought of the plan of getting rid of Max when he came into the room with a pistol in his hand.
